American Baptist Churches Rochester Region

"In all thy ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy Path."
Proverbs 3:6

We, the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, as the oldest historically African American Baptist church in Rochester, New York, believe that we are called to be a Christ-Centered, Bible-Based, Spirit-Led, and Mission-Bound Church that addresses the need of the total person through liberating worship, life transforming Christian education, progressive and timely ministries focused on effective social activism.

We, the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, are seeking a pastor who exemplifies the scriptural reference for a Christian leader.

“The Spirit of the lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”
Luke 4:18-19

Article V, Section 1 of The Constitution of the Mount Olivet Baptist Church of Rochester, New York, states that “Mt. Olivet Baptist Church shall select a pastor whenever a vacancy occurs upon the recommendation of a Pulpit Search Committee proceeding under the guidelines of the American Baptist Churches USA.”

Composition of the Search Committee

The Pastoral Search Committee shall consist of seven persons, a deacon/deaconess, a trustee, four at-large members and a youth/young adult member of the church. Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Hebrews13:20-21
