Healthy Eating

The summer is quickly coming to an end and fall, a time for new harvest, is quickly approaching.  Shield Yourself from the Flu: Protect yourself from this year’s strains.

We will have Vaccine Clinics on the following Sundays:

V Sept. 24, 2017 and

V Oct. 1, 2017 -  immediately after morning worship service

You cannot get the flu from the vaccine. However, if you are sick with cough, cold or runny nose with or without fever you should avoid getting the shot until you are well.   Remember good hand hygiene and covering your cough are the best ways, next to vaccination, to protect yourself from Influenza.   Influenza protection is especially needed for our young children and our elderly.

A representative from UnitedHealth Care, Tristian Best, will be joining us on the day of our flu clinics to help with facilitated enrollment for eligible individuals and families.   Any questions please do not hesitate to reach me, Carolyn Jacobs MD, MPH.

Here’s to a Healthy and Blessed Fall

It is important for children to live a healthy lifestyle, including being physically active.  Creative ways parents can help their children reach the 60-minutes-day goal!   Sign your child up for Community Recreational Opportunities:

V   Take a family Outdoor Walk, or share an outside activity (bike riding)

V   Turn on the music in the house and have a Dance competition

V   Incorporate Physical Activities into birthday parties and family

gatherings.   Line dancing is a great way for everyone to exercise at

       their own pace

V   Coordinate and participate in a “Walk to School Day” at your child’s
