The Crucifixion
happen on the day of preparation for the Passover, the day before the High Day Sabbath,
Passover. Because it was the day of
preparation, bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath. The
Jews asked Pilate to break their legs, Jesus and the two thieves, so that they
could be taken away. The soldiers broke the legs of the two thieves.
When they came to Jesus to break his leg, they found that He was already dead so
they did not break his legs. One of the soldiers took a spear and pierced
him in the side. Out came water and blood.
After this, Joseph of Arimathaea, a disciple of Jesus went
and asked Pilate for Jesus' body. Pilot gave him permission so he took the body
of Jesus. Nicodemus brought a mixture spices, myrrh and aloes.
Joseph and Nicodemus took the body of Jesus, wrapped it in linen with the spices
as was the custom of the Jews in those times.
Jesus was
buried in a new sepulchre in the garden where Jesus was crucified.
Jesus was the Passover Lamb for Mankind.
