"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"    John 3:16

II - Jesus Prays In the Garden Of Gethsemane

They came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and Jesus said to his disciples:

"Sit ye here, while I pray."

He took Peter, James and John with Him, and He began to be so  amazed and feeling very heavy.  He told them:

"My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here and watch"

He went forward a little, fell on the ground and prayed to His Father.  He asked, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him:

"Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt."

Then He returned and found the disciples asleep and said unto Peter:

"Simon, Sleepest thou? Couldest not thou watch one hour?" Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak."

Then Jesus left them again and prayed, repeating His plead to His Father.

He returned, He found them asleep again.  He came a third time, and said unto them:

"Sleep on now and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners."

"Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand."
