"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"    John 3:16

III:  Jesus Is Betrayed & Arrested

As He finished talking to the sleeping Disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane, Judas, one of the twelve Disciples, came with a great Mob that had swords and staves.  The crowd included Chief Priests, Scribes and Elders.

Judas, who betrayed Jesus, had prearranged a signal with the crowd.  He told them that whomsoever he kissed, would be Jesus.  Once he had done this, they should immediately take Jesus and lead Him away safely.

Judas went straight to Jesus saying, "Master, Master" and kissed him.  The Crowd grabbed Jesus and took Him away.

Then the others grabbed Jesus and arrested him.  Someone pulled out a sword and slashed off an ear of the high priest's servant.  Jesus asked them:

"Am I a Thief that you have to come armed with swords and clubs to arrest Me?  I was with you daily in the Temple Teaching  and you did not take me.  But the Scriptures, prophecy,  must be fulfilled."

Jesus was led away to the high priest.   Assembled with him were all of the Chief Priests, Elders and Scribes.
