U. S. Government Black History Month

Barack Obama became the first black president in the history of the United States on Jan. 20, 2009.   Obama took the oath of office on the same bible as Abraham Lincoln.  

African American History

Black History Celebrations Theme for the year.  Since 1926, The Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History (ASALH) has established the national theme for the month long celebration. The National Theme for the celebration in the year 2010 is "The History of Black Economic Empowerment."
